A Great Place to Buy Australian Wine

Margaret-River-Gourmet-Escape

Australia has a very beautiful beachside wine growing area in our Mediterranean styled Margaret River in Western Australia. Home to red wine and white wine, the Margaret River wine region spreads from Duns borough to Augusta and features countless vineyards and cellar doors. One of the best treats however is the annual Margaret River Wine Region Festival, held every year in April.

A fabulous mix of fine wine, fine dining, and entertainment, the Margaret River Wine Region Festival has a beautiful blend of country hospitality and great things to see eat and of course drink! Bringing together local chefs and local produce with sensational wines, the must do dining experience is definitely the Slow Food Long Table Feast. Made by many of the regions food related business owners as a showcase of their talents, this four-hour extravaganza of food, wine and friends. Where loose trousers will not be frowned on as tourist and local alike work through a sumptuous dining experience this one event.

For the shopaholic in us all, the Street Fiesta offers evening craft and retail markets to choose from. Local stores will often stay open for this evening of family fun entertainment, and of course, food and wine stalls abound. Wine tasting features heavily, as does live entertainment from several bands and musicians. Kids also have plenty to do with activities, play areas and other kinds to meet and play with.

The Vintage Festival is another fantastic event to check out. Bringing together a whole host of local wineries and food makers, the Vintage Festival offers wine by the glass to taste and sales by the wine bottle and case. Live music and arts and crafts plus the array of friendly wine stallholders make for a very enjoyable day for those who delight in the world of wine. The Vintage Festival is also serviced well by public transport, making it an ideal car free and carefree way to spend the day.

In addition to the many festivals and tasting events, wine auctions and master classes in food and wine are often a highlight of the Margaret River Wine Region Festival. Whether you have a burning desire to learn about cooking with or as a companion to a good wine, or an interest in wine production and viticulture, there is a variety of different activities, talks and classes design to cater to novice to connoisseur alike.

Finally, the festival also features an exhibition of one off barrel art pieces created by some of our most talented WA artists, a twilight vineyard based cinema and comedy. With such a full programmed of various ideal family and wine lover friendly activities, tempting tasty treats and of course a huge selection of local wines from the Margaret River region to choose from, the Margaret River Wine Region Festival is fabulously fun and educational way to explore Western Australian wine country. Join them in 2011 for their twentieth anniversary!
